Using a retest entry

< 1 min read

This is a skill I need to develop and my reason for not doing it is always the same: FOMO.

I took the break down here, marked by the arrow, the the selling candle was immediately contradicted by the big buy bar and the trade wa stopped; a retest entry would not have triggered.

Rationally I know it is better to use retests. They are safer entries because they avoid many false breaks and I know where the Stop is. Because I know I find rules easier to obey when I have the stats to back them up, I will add the following flags to Edgewonk:

  • could I have waited for a retest on this entry?
  • if this was a loss, would a retest entry have avoided it?

By doing this, i will know the P&L of trades that had to be taken on that candle at that moment and I will know how many losses I could avoid.
